Gutters for Beacon Homes, from Main Street to Mount Beacon
Beacon's streets run downhill from the base of Mount Beacon toward the Hudson, and the houses along them are as varied as any city in Dutchess County. There are Victorians, brick row houses, older two-family homes, and newer construction filling in between. Each style handles water a little differently, and the hills add another wrinkle.
On a sloped street, water doesn't sit still. A downspout that empties onto the sidewalk or the driveway sends that water downhill, sometimes into a neighbor's yard, sometimes back toward your own foundation. We pay close attention to where leaders and downspouts go, and we reroute or extend them so the water ends up somewhere harmless.
Many Beacon homes have long runs of old trim and wood fascia. When gutters leak or overflow for years, that wood rots. We check the fascia before new gutters go up and repair soffit and fascia when it's needed.
For new systems, we install seamless aluminum gutters formed to length on site, which cuts down on seams and leaks and gives a cleaner look along the roofline. We size and pitch every run to the roof it drains. New installations come with a 5-year warranty. If you'd like to keep your existing gutters, we'll repair them: resealing joints, rehanging sagging sections and replacing damaged pieces.
Every fall, leaves pile up from street trees and the wooded slopes of Mount Beacon. We clean and flush gutters and downspouts, and we install SureFlow gutter caps for anyone who'd rather not deal with clogs each year. Clear gutters before winter also help prevent ice dams, which are common on older roofs during freeze-thaw cycles.
We also clean dryer vents, which removes the lint buildup that makes dryers less efficient and raises the risk of fire.
